The American Buffalo is the first .9999 fine 24-karat gold coin ever struck by the United States Mint. The design is based on James Earle Fraser's famous 1913 Type I Buffalo Nickel. The obverse features a profile of a Native American, and the reverse depicts an American Bison. This specimen is presented in a clear protective airtight capsule.
