1950s (specifically 1958)
Material
95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc; high-quality bronze alloy compared to modern zinc pennies.

Good/Circulated. The coin shows visible wear on Lincoln's cheek and hair. There is significant darkening (toning) and some debris in the crevices. No major gouges or environmental damage are visible from the photo.
Demand Level
Low/Niche. While iconic, the 1958-D is one of the most common dates in the series with over 800 million minted.

Comparable Sales
Recent eBay 'Sold' listings show bulk lots of 1950s wheat pennies selling for approximately $0.03 to $0.05 per coin plus shipping. Single 1958-D coins in similar condition rarely sell individually due to shipping costs exceeding the coin's value.
Description
1958-D Lincoln Wheat Cent. This coin features the portrait of Abraham Lincoln on the obverse and two stalks of wheat on the reverse. The 'D' mint mark below the date indicates it was struck at the Denver Mint. This was the final year of the 'Wheat' reverse design before transitioning to the Lincoln Memorial in 1959.
Key Features
Final year of the Wheat Cent series; Denver 'D' mint mark; high copper content (pre-1982 bullion value is higher than face value).
Authenticity Indicators
High confidence. The 'D' mint mark placement and 1958 date font are consistent with US Mint standards. There are no rare errors visible that would trigger counterfeit concerns.
Flaws to Note
Heavy circulation wear, surface oxidation (browning), and typical micro-scratches. It is not an 'Uncirculated' or 'Red' condition coin.
Selling Guide
Where to Sell
eBay (as part of a bulk wheat penny lot), local coin shops (bulk only), or Facebook Marketplace 'porch pickup' for local collectors.
Selling Tips
Do NOT clean this coin; collectors prefer original patina and cleaning ruins numismatic value. This item is best sold as part of a 'Wheat Penny Lot' or a '1950s Decade Set' to maximize shipping efficiency and buyer interest.
