Description
Lovely vintage Anchor Hocking Royal Ruby glass bowl in a unique square, footed shape. Features an embossed Holly and Berry pattern on textured 'stippled' glass sides. The deep ruby red color is solid throughout. Perfect for holiday decor, candy dishes, or mid-century glass collectors. Dimensions are approximately 4.5 to 5 inches square.
Key Features
Highly collectible 'Royal Ruby' color; festive holiday motif; discontinued MCM pattern; distinct square shape which is more desirable than the round variants.
Authenticity Indicators
Anchor Hocking did not always mark these with a logo, but the 'Royal Ruby' hue is distinct—it is a true red, not flashed (painted) on. Construction is thick, heavy pressed glass. Confidence: High.
Flaws to Note
Look for 'flea bites' (tiny chips) along the faceted top rim and corners. Check for 'dishwasher haze' (cloudiness), though this piece appears clear in the photo.
Selling Guide
Where to Sell
eBay or Etsy are best for vintage glass collectors. Facebook Marketplace is recommended if sold as a set to avoid shipping risks.
Selling Tips
Highlight 'Christmas' and 'MCM' in the title. Take a photo with a light source behind the glass to show the depth of the red. Wrap extremely well in bubble wrap (double box if shipping). If you have only one, it’s a 'replacement piece'; if you have 4, sell as a set for $50-$65.
